Moms,

With a new human you are lovingly responsible to physically and emotionally nurture, the priority shifts. Your sleep, nutrition, and movement habits change, but so does your appreciation for the little things in life.

The struggle of putting YOU first is real. It’s helpful to know you are not alone in this, and in fact there are dozens of Moms in the ADF community who feel it too and are rooting for you. You’re no stranger to the challenges motherhood may throw at you, especially when it comes to putting your wellness first.

THESE ARE THE 3 BIGGEST CHALLENGES WE SEE MOMS FACE IN FITNESS.

1. FINDING THE TIME

Time is limited as a parent… getting to the gym, doing your workout, driving home from the gym…this doesn’t even include organizing your kid(s) before and after..you could be looking at up to 3 hours. Not to mention, your schedule could change in an instant: childcare coverage fell through, your kid gets a cold, or even feeling guilty about the time spent away from your child. “20 minutes is the goal,” said one ADF Mama.

2. DWINDLING ENERGY

As a mom, you’ve put everyone’s needs in front of yourself. It’s your natural instinct and in many ways, it’s added a multitude of joy into your life. However you also know about the dwindling energy. Whether it’s from a lack of sleep, constant parenting decisions, or being on autopilot for months at a time, it can be extremely challenging to find the energy and motivation to workout. Even with an extra free hour: “Do I prioritize a workout? Or sleep? Or cleaning the house?” is a common contemplation Moms face.

3. KNOWING WTF TO DO

If you’re in your post-natal journey, you’re likely experiencing the uncertainty of what your body can or should physically do in a workout. “Knowing where to begin…” was a struggle one ADF mama said, “… I had a C-section and was not prepared for the toll it took on my core.” The fitness world is filled with a ton of information (a lot of misinformation too). Finding a person you trust, who understands your experience, and has extensive education on pre- and post-natal training is not an easy feat

THE STRUGGLE OF PUTTING YOU FIRST IS REAL…

… & you are not alone. Then to add in finding time in your schedule, then energy to actually do your workout, plus knowing what to do is a heavy mountain to climb.
