In the days leading up to Running Through the 6ix we (the All Day Fit team) found ourselves repeatedly checking the weather forecast…sharing screenshots of what each of our phones reported, crossing our fingers for sunshine and convincing ourselves that there was no way it was going to rain. But no to avail, we woke up Saturday morning to overcast skies and rain in the air.
For some people this might have turned them off an early Saturday morning outdoor fitness event – but not for the All Day Fit community! As instructed, everyone brought their GAME FACE, good vibes and a ton of energy – we couldn’t have asked for a better group of participants.
After a delicious morning snack from NAGI and an inspiring speech from our fearless leader Cassie Day – we released participants out on to the Running Through the 6ix course. Teams could choose their own adventure by solving riddles to find the corners, strategizing what challenges to concur based on point value and accomplishing tasks along the way.
A few Running Through the 6ix highlights include:
Getting a jump start on Saturday festivities by doing SHOTS with Organic Traditions! Ok, we don’t mean alcohol, we mean shots of their delicious Super 5 Grass Juice Blend
Sharing the Pride love!! Rainbows everywhere!
Eating crickets with Catherine!
Brand new adidas t-shirts and bags! We can always count on adidas to keep us looking fresh!
Mid race smoothies provided by Genuine Health, the perfect refreshment and appreciated by all the racers
Hitting shit at BOLO…and by shit we mean boxing!
Of course, the always wild Jahmeek, getting participants to run with a parachute and pull a picnic table around.
Learning and playing the super fun game Sportspateria – All Day Fit park hangs anyone? Pretty sure one police officer got his workout in for the day by doing jumping jacks with almost every team, love the enthusiasm. Hunting through the Detox Market for good quality products – for those of you who don’t know about this hidden gem, you want to start shopping here! Sprinting, cheersing and hanging out with our new friends from COCO5.
Racers crossed the finish line at 10:00 am with big smiles, tired legs, soaked maps and keen to find out if they won! While waiting in anticipation and out of the rain thanks to our gracious hosts Red Bull, everyone enjoyed chicken and waffles, courtesy of Eat Train Live.
In between laughs from watching everyone’s videos and pictures the behind the scenes duo of Fran and Steph worked diligently to tally the scores. It was a close call, but we had two teams come out on top to take the first and second place spots.
Huge CONGRATULATIONS to the winning team – Team Burpees! Karina, Matt and Alina worked their asses off to rack up the points by solving all riddles to make it to the 4 corners of the map.
Shout out to the runners up, the most intense team on the course – Team We’ve Got the Runs! Tim, Beth and Cam never stopped sprinting, they will be gunning for first place next year.
THANK YOU to all of our participants, volunteers and staff! What an incredible morning, we will be riding this high for a few weeks – the All Day Fit community is one for the books! Everyone worked so hard, got a great workout in, hit 20,000 steps in the rain (before 10:00 am!) and had SO MUCH FUN. We already can’t wait for next year 😊
