Earlier this year, a friend asked me about cellulite. Her comment was, “I know everybody has it to some degree, but I feel like it’s not talked about at all, and no one even really understands what it is – is it a bad thing? Is a good thing?” The truth is, we never really talk about cellulite, so here it goes…

Cellulite occurs when fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin. Since EVERYBODY has both fat and connective tissue, it occurs in many of us – often settling in the butt/thigh area. Some of the skinniest and some of the fittest women on the planet have cellulite – it is in no way shape or form a reflection of how fit or unfit you are, which is what I want everyone to understand.

All Day Fit teaches women (and men) to love their bodies for how strong and powerful they are. Over the last few years, I’ve watched women who can barely lift a dumbbell thrust a 75lb barbell over their head. That. Is. Insane. I’ve watched women go from body weight squats to 175 pound back squats in class. And the best part about it is their CONFIDENCE that exudes from their face after they hit each rep.

So all of that being said, there are certainly ways you can combat cellulite: building muscle, eating a diet consisting of whole foods and a good balance of protein, carbs and fats, and drinking a LOT of water can help. But getting rid of cellulite shouldn’t be your goal, and it shouldn’t be your focus. Focus on what your body does for you – how it completes full body push-ups twice a week, or how it thrusts that barbell over your head while Cassie is screaming at you to hit another rep (lol). You’ll be surprised that one day you’ll look in the mirror and you’ll hardly notice that little bit of cellulite, you’ll notice how STRONG feel. This is what SELF-LOVE is all about.
